Project Overview
Completed the interior renovation of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management executive education facility, creating a sophisticated learning environment designed to support MBA coursework, executive education programs, and collaborative learning. The project transformed a portion of an occupied Class-A office space into a modern academic setting featuring premium finishes, advanced technology integration, and purpose-built instructional spaces.
Scope of Work
Construction included complete interior demolition and renovation, new partitions and ceilings, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, lighting and lighting controls, custom architectural millwork, acoustic wood wall paneling, tiered raised-floor seating systems for lecture rooms, double-pane acoustical glazing, AV and IT infrastructure, access control, flooring, carpeting, wallcoverings, interior glazing, painting, signage, and all associated interior improvements.
Challenges
The primary challenge was completing construction within an occupied Class-A office building while maintaining uninterrupted operations of the active MBA program. Construction activities were carefully coordinated around class schedules and university operations to minimize disruption to students, faculty, and staff. Extensive coordination between the AV, IT, electrical, and millwork trades was also critical to ensure seamless integration and functionality of all classroom technology systems.
Our Approach
The Construction Management team worked closely with the university, design professionals, building management, and specialty technology vendors to develop phased construction activities around the academic calendar. Detailed trade coordination, proactive scheduling, and continuous quality control ensured architectural finishes and integrated technology systems were installed efficiently and commissioned successfully.
Results
The completed Kellogg School of Management facility delivers a contemporary executive education environment that combines premium architectural finishes with state-of-the-art learning technology. Through disciplined project management and close coordination with university operations, the project was successfully completed while minimizing impacts to the ongoing academic program.
